Jan 2013: Simon Rosner receives Paderborn award

More photos on the official site of the event

German number one Simon Rosner has received the accolade of ”Sportsman of the Year 2012″ for the 3rd time in an awards ceremony in his home town of Paderborn.

Rosner, who was the public face of the hugely successful 2011 WSF Men’s World Team Championships in Paderborn, enjoyed a very successful 2012 which saw him win his sixth successive German National title as well as taking the German National Team title with his Paderborn team, and finishing the year at a career high #15 in the PSA world rankings.

His performances in the PSA World Series events during 2012 were rewarded with a first appearance in the World Series Finals – where the top eight points earners compete for the overall World Series title – at Queen’s Club in London in January 2013. On his return to Germany he was met with a nice surprise at the Paderborn awards ceremony...

"The Sportsball honours the Sportsman, sportswoman
and Sportsteam each Year in January which I won for the 3rd time now (Sportsman of the Year) and 3 times together with the Paderborner Squash Club (Sportsteam of the Year).

I had to open the Ball and dance the waltz and the disco-fox
together with Inna Weit, who was the Sportswoman (German Champion 200m Sprint) in front of 1,300 people, even though I CAN'T dance, we managed to get that behind us without feeling too embarrassed :-)))"

Yes, having to dance with a gorgeous young lady, it's a tough job, but...
