30-Mar, Semis:
Home juniors through to finals in Malaka
The semi-finals in both draws produced upset results as
local juniors Eain Yow Ng and Sivasangari Subramanian
upset higher seeds to keep hopes of home victories alive.
Ng took 72 minutes and five gaes to beat fellow-Malaysian Mohd
Syafiq Kamal, the fourth seed, and will meet Vikram Malhotra
for the title, after the Indian downed third seed Ben Grindrod
in the latest of an impressive series of results.
Third seed Subramaniam beat top seed Vanessa Chu in straight
games to set up a final against another Hong Kong opponent,
fourth seed Ho Tze Lok, who beat Aika Azman in straight
games.
29-Mar, Round One & Quarters:
Malaysians advance in Malaka
It
was a good day for the home players in Malaka as they claimed
places in all four semi-finals of the Malaysian Tour first leg.
A home finalist is guaranteed in the men's draw as Eain Yow
Ng and Mohd Syafiq Kamal both progressed to set up an
all-Malaysian semi-final, while in the women's draw Siva
Subramaniam and Aika Azman both have chances of
reaching the final.
Performances of the day were from Hong Kong qualifier Chris
Lo who took out men's top seed Lance Beddoes before falling
to Ng in the quarters, and from fifth-seeded Azman as she
beat Hong Kong's second seed Caremen Lee in the women's
quarters.
