Tamika and Zac keep runs going in Sydney

A large crowd witnessed two wonderful finals at the Fujitsu NSW Open today.

First up was the Womens match. Tamika Saxby, chasing her thirdrd consecutive PSA Australian Tour title, began as she intended to finish, fast and furious. Her length, boasts and drops were perfectly executed. Lisa Camilleri played very well but had no answer for what Tamika was doing with the racquet and ball.

The men's final was a display of good length, drops and amazing reaching for the ball. While qualifier Aaron Frankcomb has experience on his side, the younger Zac Alexander had an answer for everything Aaron tried as he maintained his impressive run to collect a sixth PSA title in a row.

It was a wonderful end to a wonderful four days of squash on the northern beaches of Sydney (and yes there is an ocean view from the balcony!).

02-Jul, Semis:
Tamika and Zac keep runs going in Sydney

Semi finals day at the Fujitsu NSW Squash Open saw some skilful racquet work and wonderful court movement by the eight quarterfinalists.

Local favourite in the Womens draw Tamika Saxby had the spectators on the edge of their chairs with her racket skills and her movement around the court. Her opponent, Emma Millar from New Zealand did not disappoint with her display of wonderful court craft and retrieval but was no match for Tamika today.

The other womens semi saw the No2 seed Lisa Camilleri overpower her Norwegian opponent Lotte Eriksen.

Tomorrow's final should be a wonderful match with Tamika chasing her third consecutive title on the Australian Circuit and facing Lisa in the third tournament in a row.

The men's semi finals were a little more sedate in that Rhys Dowling had to give into an injured ankle which he did in the quarter finals yesterday. He lost the first game 11/4 but at 1 all in the second set could not continue, giving Aaron Frankcomb a place in the final

Top seed Zac Alexander was too strong for Matthew Karwalski. There were plenty of long rallies but Matthew has retired from the circuit and now only players for pleasure but he gave it his all.

Tomorrow's final should be a cracker of a match, a repeat of the 2014 final as Zac aims for a sixth straight PSA title.

01-Jul, Round One/Quarters:
Upsets abound in Sydney

THere was no shortage of upset results on a busy day's play at the Elanora Squash and Fitness Centre in Sydney.

In the men's draw the top two seeds are through to the semis, but both will face local, ex-PSA qualifiers.

The experienced Aaron Frankcomb wasted no time in defeating Elliot Selby and Sandeep Ramachandran to set up a meeting with second seed Rhys Dowling.

In the top half of the draw top seed Zac Alexander, aiming for a sixth straight PSA title, will be up aganst Matthew Karwalski who eased past two seeded opponents.

A big quarter final upset in the Womens draw saw home grown talent Tamika Saxby defeating the top seed Lee Ka Yi from Hong Kong 3/1 in a fast paced match.

Saxby now meets undseeded Emma Millar from New Zealand in the semi final.

Second seed Lisa Camilleri defeated Ho Tze Lok from Hong Kong in  very physical match and in the semis meets fourth seeded Norwegian
Lotte Eriksen.

30-Jun, Qualifying:
Locals through to main draw in Sydney

The 2016 NSW Open kicked off in Sydney with men's qualifying, played in cold weather but the matches were hotly contested

All four Sydney Premier League players - Matthew Karwalski, Iain Tenant, Brett Hyland and Aaron Frankcomb - made it through to the main draw, which kicks off tomorrow, along with the women's event.

Top seed is Zac Alexandar, who is aiming to win a sixth straight PSA title.

Zac on track for six
