Women's Final:
Dominique Lloyd-Walter bt Emily Whitlock
          11/4, 11/5, 5/11, 11/8

Dominique Lloyd-Walter won the Ladies Wimbledon Cup for the second successive year but had to weather a late storm put on by Emily Whitlock.

Dominique had played with great control throughout event, looking in great form after her recent lay off through injury. She started the final in the same mode and dominated the opening two games, working Emily into all the corners and squeezed out many unforced errors from her young opponent. It seemed as though Dominique was heading towards a comfortable victory but Emily stamped her own authority on the match from the start of the third game.

Emily organised her game plan well and started to find the depth she needed to gain control over the centre of the court. That game seemed to take Dominique by surprise and Emily was back in the match winning the third 11-5. The match was now in the balance with both girls looking to take change the momentum of the match. Emily lead 8-6 deep into the fourth but a couple of errors and some excellent pressure from Dominique saw her win the next 5 rallies to take the title.

The Ladies squash over the weekend has seen some really exciting matches played at a very high level. It is fantastic news that the event was turned into a WISPA event this year and the club have really enjoyed seeing all the ladies perform admirably.

Dominique was a very worthy winner and Emily can be proud of her efforts in reaching a WISPA final at such a young age.

Men’s Final:
Tom Richards bt Adrian Waller        
               11/6, 9/11, 11/6 11/3

Tom Richards took the men’s Wimbledon Cup against Adrian Waller in a high quality and very fast paced match. Tom’s speed of recovery at times was incredible and Adrian put him under plenty of pressure throughout much to his credit.

Tom started at a very high pace and held a very high position in the court taking the ball as early as possible to take a 7-3 lead in the first. Towards the end of the first Adrian started to work his way back into the match and began to stretch Tom around the court but Tom held on to take the game 11-6.

Another good start in the second from Tom opened up a 5-2 lead but this time Adrian began his recovery earlier to go into a 7-6 lead. From here the rallies became frantic but the level of accuracy and skill from both players remained very high. Adrian finished the game strongly from 9-9 and forced Tom into a couple errors to level the match.

Not much could separate the players now, but Tom kept a slight lead during the third and from 7-6 up he applied some great pressure to win the next four rallies. The momentum was firmly with Tom going into the fourth and there was no holding him back from here, as he built up and 8-2 lead with some outstanding squash.

Tom took the title on his first match point at 10-3 and was delighted to get the win.

Both Tom and Adrian have improved hugely over the past year and their futures in the game look very bright.
