Khan foils Fernandes in
Orange County final
Top seed Latasha Khan
ended the run of unseeded Nicolette Fernandes in the final of
the Orange County Open in Irvine.
Fernandes, the 29-year-old recently recrowned Caribbean champion
from Guyana currently ranked 64 in the world, had beaten three seeds
on her way to a 6th WSA final, but found the experience of the
six-time US National champion too much in the final as Khan won
11/9, 11/8, 5/11, 11/7.
Khan, the 39-year-old world number 28, was playing in her 147th WSA
event and her 21st final, and duly collected her 10th title. |
